Position Summary:
The Director of Transportation is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all transportation operations within the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in logistics and transportation management. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient transportation processes, maintain compliance with regulations, and lead a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service.
POSITION SUMMARY: Oversee the transportation department to ensure that our customers are transported to work, medical appointments, and social events in a timely and safe manner. This position supervises drivers and dispatcher(s) daily and reviews and approves all daily schedules. Performs other duties as directed by the vice president.
Essential Job Functions:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work with dispatcher to schedule daily rides in an efficient manner.
- Work with other CPRF departments to arrange transportation of their consumers.
- Schedule transportation usage, following guidelines set out in transportation handbook.
- Interview, hire, and train new staff.
- Evaluate driver performance during the introductory period and annually thereafter and recommend salary reviews.
- Monitor in-service attendance, first aid and CPR compliance, and licensing requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and responsiveness of service through consumer and program evaluations, follow up on consumer complaints.
- Conduct meetings with all drivers. Maintain agenda and minutes.
- Oversee necessary records/documentation of all maintenance repairs, expenses as needed to comply with weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reports as required by licensing and funding resources.
- Manage all fiscal responsibilities for the department.
- Oversee database for all consumers’ rides.
- Keep current on all reimbursement sources.
- Work closely with the County brokerage to increase rides throughout the City of Wichita through marketing efforts.
- Stay current with all KDOT requirements.
- Oversee that all office equipment is functioning properly.
- Responsible for data reporting to the county brokerage for billing and reimbursement tracking.
- Represent CPRF on the Paratransit Council, the Kansas Paratransit Association (KPTA) and the CTD12 Board.
- Performs other duties as directed by the CEO/President.
Job Requirements:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Minimum of Associates Degree
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three – five years of transit and supervisory experience. Familiarity with Wichita Transit, KDOT requirements, and County Brokerage system.
SKILLS: First aid and CPR certified; familiarity with city layout; good driving record; communication skills; computer skills – word-processing and database. CDL license
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 3 drivers; dispatcher
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up 50 pounds or more. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate machines such as transportation vehicles, lifts to transfer clients, computers, copier, fax and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
