The Timbers is a 100-unit apartment community for people with physical disabilities. Each unit features roll-in showers, roll-under sinks and counters, accessible switches, and more. We also have an accessible swimming pool for residents, as well as a congregate area for group activities, potlucks, and parties.
In addition to these amenities, the Timbers also has three Federal Emergency Management Agency tornado shelters on campus, as well as a HUD Service Coordinator on staff to help residents with annual forms, utility assistance enrollment, voter registration, nutritional commodities, and more. As an added safety measure, we have security staff stationed at the Timbers at night and on weekends. Though most units are one-bedroom, we do have a few two-bedroom apartments.
For more information about the Timbers, contact Michelle Pryor, Timbers Admissions & Activities Coordinator, at (316) 651-5224. An application to live at the Timbers is located below, along with a photo gallery.
A U.S. Housing and Urban Development-funded property built in 1979, the Timbers was the first of its kind in the nation and has received HUD’s Property of the Year award.
