Work-site and home modifications are accomplished throughout Kansas by CPRF's Mobile Rehabilitation Engineering Shop. Their mission is to bring people with disabilities and technology together to eliminate the barriers that stand between them and the quality of life they deserve.
CPRF's Mobile Rehabilitation Engineering Shop, the second of its kind in the United States and the only one in Kansas, is a fully-equipped, mobile fabrication and design shop that provides on-the-spot fabrication and installation of adaptive equipment for people with disabilities.
Engineering and rehabilitation technoligist perform on-site evaluations in the home and in the work place to assist people with disabilities in identifying devices or modifications that will enable them to accomplish desired tasks. Safety and functionality are always considerations in such evaluations.
Projects range in size from the installation of a porch ramp to the redesign of an entire farming operation. If a needed device or modification can not be purchased, the rehabilitation-engineering staff has the capability to design such items. The Mobile Shop has provided services for children and adults with disabilities in over 90 counties across Kansas.
