What is a vocational assessment? A vocational assessment works to identify an individual's job aptitudes, interests, personality traits, and beliefs about work and working with others. An assessment measures the client’s strengths, identifies areas of need and learning abilities. The vocational assessment incorporates medical, psychological, social, vocational, educational, cultural, background information and economic data. It also includes interests, abilities, and preferences, which is crucial to placement in a job or training program that will ensure the best opportunity for success. All areas can be summarized and used to provide recommendations to specific programs and also linked to jobs with market-wage information and expected job growth. Clients, as well as case managers, use an assessment to make plans toward successful employment or plan for training toward employment in a variety of fields. Another function of the Vocational Assessment Department is to provide recommendations on CPRF School of Adaptive Computer Training student candidates.
Who would benefit from a vocational assessment? People entering or re-entering the workforce or those who want to examine potential changes they could make in employment fields and/or training areas would benefit from a vocational assessment. Return to questions
