 Adult Day Services
Health Care Monitoring
-
The Adult Day Services programs provides an atmosphere for customers to maintain the highest level of independence and personal choice in matters of health and well being, including issues regarding medication based upon specific needs of the customer.
-
-
To help staff accomplish this goal, there is a consulting registered nurse on site weekly, and a licensed practical nurse on site daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-
-
Staff will routinely look for signs and symptoms of an illness and assure that appropriate medical attention is given in these circumstances. Upon observing any signs or symptoms of illness and/or injury, or upon receiving any complaints from a customer of illness or injury, staff will request a nurse evaluation. Adult Day nurses will carefully evaluate and monitor all aspects of the customer’s health care and communicate concerns to all individuals with a need to know.
Emergency Medical Services When necessary, program nurses will procure the services of the emergency medical services. If an emergency situation is severe enough that an ambulance should be called, staff will follow specific procedures for the safety of all customers. Severe emergency situations may include: suspected heart attack, seizure lasting more than five minutes, multiple seizures, back or head injury, profuse bleeding or signs of severe illness. All customers are required to have an Emergency Treatment form on file in the Adult Day Services office.
After hospitalization, an infection or contagious illness, customer are required to provide a Customer Medical Release Information form signed by a physician.
-
Required Medical Exams Customers are required to provide a medical examination report before admission and every two years thereafter. Also required are a medication and health update signed by a physician, an signed copy of a physician’s standing orders, which also gives permission for as-needed medications (such as over-the-counter pain relievers).
-
-
Medications The Adult Day policy requires that customers provide a current list of all medications, that the list is signed by a physician and that each of the medications are under a current prescription (a copy of which is kept on file in the ADS office). Medications must be in the original labeled containers.
